Workbook Path: Production -> Production

The purpose of the Production workbook on IntelliDash is to provide visibility into the output from "Job Orders" and "Just In Time" production. The primary source for this information is the Material Transactions data set in your ERP. The Finish transactions from Job and JIT are used here. Finish Transactions with zero Qty Complete are ignored from this workbook. This does not include the Job Operation level data.
  1. Types of Production Cost - Depended on the Costing method at an Organizations, the Production Cost could mean different things. On IntelliDash we have broadly classified the Production Cost into 4 types as summarized below,
    1. Assembly Cost - The Incremental Cost that it took for a Job to be completed. This is the value added to the item in that level.
    2. Actual Cost - This is the Actual Cost that went into producing the item. Only Items that are Actual Costed go into Inventory at Actual Cost.
    3. Current Cost - This is Production Cost based on the Current Unit Cost. The Current Unit Cost is based on the Current BOM and Current Routing in your ERP.
    4. Standard Cost - This is the Production Cost based on the Standard Unit Cost. The Standard Unit Cost is based on the Standard BOM and Standard Routings in your ERP. Items that are Standard Costed go into Inventory at Standard Cost. If the Actual Cost to complete a specific Job was different than the Standard Cost, that difference amount goes into the respective Variance accounts like Material Usage Variance, Labor Usage Variance, etc.
  2. This dashboard provides 3 Cost related measures to get visibility into the above 4 types of Production Costs.
    1. "Current Assembly Cost (Setup/Labor/Mach)" - Answers the question "What is the Incremental Cost added to the Item at each level of the BOM".
    2. "Current Production Ext Cost" - Answers the question "What is the Cost of the Item produced based on the Current BOM and Current Routing". When the filter criteria on this dashboard included Finished Goods and Sub Assemblies, then the overall Production Cost will be inflated.
    3. "Production Ext Cost" - Answers the questions "For Standard Costed Items, what is the Cost of the Item produced based on the Standard BOM and Current Routings?" and "For Actual Costed Items, what is the Actual Cost at which the item was added into Inventory?"

  1. Each of the above 3 cost measures along with the Qty Produced measure can be summarized by different dimensions as displayed below.

Measures/Dimensions
Description
Production Type
For Production from Job Orders this dimension holds "JO". For Production from Just In Time this dimension holds "JIT"
Qty Produced
This is the Qty Complete from the Finish Material Transaction in ERP
Current Setup Value
Assembly Setup cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Assembly Run
Assembly Run cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Assembly Fixed
Assembly Fixed cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Assembly Variable
Assembly Variable cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Current Assembly Cost (Setup/Labor/Mach)
Current Setup Value + (Qty Produced * (Assembly Run + Assembly Fixed + Assembly Variable))
Assembly Outside
Assembly Outside cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Current Assembly Outside Cost
Qty Produced * Assembly Outside
Assembly Other
Assembly Other cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Currently Assembly Other Cost
Qty Produced * Assembly Other
Assembly Matl
Assembly Material cost from the Item's Cost at the the time of Finish Transaction
Current Assembly Material Cost
Qty Produced * Assembly Material
Assembly Fixture
Assembly Fixture cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Current Assembly Fixture Cost
Qty Produced * Assembly Fixture
Assembly Tool
Assembly Tool cost from the Item's Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Current Assembly Tool Cost
Qty Produced * Assembly Tool
Current Unit Cost
Item's Current Unit Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
Current Production Ext Cost
Qty Produced * Current Unit Cost
Unit Cost
For Standard Costed Items this is the Standard Unit Cost at the time of Finish Transaction
For Actual Costed Items this is the Unit Cost at which the Item went into Inventory
Production Ext Cost
Qty Produced * Unit Cost

Note - The Assembly costs are not maintained in the Material Transactions data set in ERP. Hence IntelliDash takes a snapshot of the Item's Assembly Cost as of the end of day when the Finish Transaction was recorded in ERP. When IntelliDash is setup for an organization for the first time, the Assembly Cost as of the date when IntelliDash was setup is used for the Finish Transactions from the past.
